FULL TRAINING DAYS

Kirkbourne Spaniels hold full day training days monthly. These include Novice, Intermediate, Advanced days as well as more targeted days such as Spaniel days, cold game days and walk up shoot days.

The training days are designed to build you and your dog’s confidence.  We work with limited number groups allowing for the day to be structured to gain the most out of them. We aim to have you coming away feeling as if you have achieved, are refreshed, and have new goals for you and your dog.

Our core training days are held in Sprotbourgh and Adel however the more specialised days are held all over Yorkshire, and include the beautiful grounds of Aske Estate Richmond.  We occasionally have a professional photographer attending to capture the day.

Our training days are structured around our TRAIN TO WIN programme, and you will need to achieve the Bronze or Silver assessments before joining either the intermediate or advanced days.

All of our training is progressive and structured to ensure success, but the main focus is making sure the basics are 100% every time in Novice before moving on. It is in the Novice class that the foundations for the more advanced levels of training are essential. Do not rush this phase.

NOVICE TRAINING DAYS

Covering all the basic foundation training from heel work to retrieving. (6months +)

Working towards BRONZE Train To Win assessment.

INTERMEDIATE TRAINING DAYS

Covering all the above, but progressing in distance, directional control, distractions, introduction to shot, blind retrieves and obstacles.

You and your dog need to have achieved Bronze in our Train to Win programme.

Intermediate training is working towards SILVER Train To Win assessment.

ADVANCED TRAINING DAYS

Covering all the above, but increasing the distance again. This is real fine tuning for the field, with multi level tasks, blind and distraction retrieves, dummy launchers, multiple obstacles and more.

Advanced level training is also where the selection for the Kirkbourne Team is made.

You and your dog need to have achieved at least Silver in our Train to Win programme.

Working towards GOLD Train To Win - The ultimate level to achieve.

SPECIALISED TRAINING DAYS

SPANIEL TRAINING DAYS

Working a spaniel in the correct manner is paramount to a great dog, we will show you how to correctly hunt your dog in many environments.  We will also look at dropping to shot, and dropping to flush.

COLD GAME TRAINING DAYS

This is where we are nearly there with our dogs, we have now got full control, and we need to step it up to introduce the dog to game.  These days are very popular, and always sell out fast.

DOG NO GUN - HALF TRAINING DAY

OK we are nearly there and your dog needs to experience the flushing of birds and the hunting out of birds. These half days are a great introduction to beating with your dog without the pressure of the guns watching on.

SHOOT TRAINING DAYS

During the season, we hold shoot training days where we walk up with the guns for a live training day. The game is flushed and shot in real time as part of the training session and we all get our turn to retrieve the shot game.  Very popular with the advance handlers wanting to progress into trialing and shooting.

Available days will be posted on our Facebook group, calendar and in news letters.  To book onto any of the above days please visit the training booking area HERE
